Mat Greaves is a cartoonist and painter from Manchester, UK.
His comics, cartoons and paintings explore subcultures and countercultures while satirising modern living. By focusing on the funny, dark and weird aspects of society, he examines how people alienated from work and mainstream culture find solace and community.
Mat maintains a strong “DIY” ethos within his multi-disciplinary practice, favouring the use of traditional art-making tools and methods where possible.
Mat has been published in Private Eye and Viz Comic, as well as several British and North American comics anthologies. He has a monthly cartoon strip, YUX, in The Village Star-Revue, an alternative monthly newspaper published in New York City. His paintings have been shown in open exhibitions across Manchester. In 2025, Mat had his first solo show, Heady, at Pint Sized Gallery.
He is also a founding member and editor of Underground Kingdom Comix, a collective and micro-publisher of UK small press cartoonists.
